I grew up speaking Spanish at home with my parents and extended family. I loved Spanish so much I took it as my foreign language requirement in high school. who am I kidding? I took it because it was easy for me. Sorry Mrs. Mendoza! But thank you Mrs. Mendoza! Inspired by my high school Spanish teacher, (you guessed it, Mrs. Mendoza) I took some college level Spanish classes after high school as I wanted to be a high school Spanish teacher as well, I would try to be as cool as her! I took a few Spanish Literature Classes, and yes, some more Spanish grammar.
Life happened and I changed my career trajectory. Over the years though, God has allowed me to fulfill the desire to teach, and now specifically it comes full circle where God is allowing me to be your Spanish teacher for this coming 2024-2025 school year!

· We will be studying Spanish, as a foreign language, as a tool for evangelism, and as a way to learn about other cultures that have been influential in the US, and our local communities. There will be approximately 1-1.5 hours of homework daily.
· To learn Conversational Spanish with a framework of Spanish grammar rules and spelling.
· By emphasizing conversational practice through vocabulary list, workbook practice, but most importantly class discussions and Monthly Challenges.
· Every week I will be spending time in class going over workbook lessons in a relaxed conversational atmosphere. I will have the kids repeat things back often. We will also be having conversations with a Christian emphasis, such as “How to Present the Gospel”.
· Speaking English will be acceptable but there must be an effort to speak Spanish or use Spanish words as much as possible.
· I will make myself available during the week, throughout the day for quick questions and weekly check-ins, and during the evening for up to an hour per student. The hour must be scheduled in advance. No more than once a week for the hour window. Calls throughout the day can be as many as needed.
· If I don’t know the answer, I will find it out and get back to you!
· My goal is for everyone in the class to be able to order tacos (speaking Spanish only) by the end of the first semester… and hold a basic conversation in Spanish by the end of the year.
